A New Season of Life

For the past 7 years I’ve been working for a company that builds websites for churches and small businesses.  My role with the company included design, development, marketing, customer support and training, web, social media, and SEO consulting, product development, and a handful of other things.  There were many rewarding aspects of the work but there were also many exhausting aspects.

This morning at 11am, my time with SnapShot Web came to a peaceful end.  I will technically start my new job as a high school teacher – teaching Multimedia at Del Oro High School – on the 13th of August.  I say technically because I have been busy inventorying equipment and writing curriculum since I was offered the job back in May.  While there is a bit of sadness over ending my time with SnapShot Web, I am thoroughly excited for this new chapter to begin.

I’ll start in the Fall with two Multimedia I classes that will serve as an introduction to video communication and storytelling and one Multimedia II class that will be focused on Broadcast Journalism.  The students in my Multimedia II class will be producing a video bulletin and live broadcasting the home football and basketball games.  I’ll soon be setting up a WordPress site at deloronews.com to serve as a place for student videos and blogs.

This is a picture of the back of my new desk.  Not as tidy as my old desk but there’s certainly a lot of potential.
