My oldest two kids came into my classroom yesterday after school with giant smiles. “Daddy, we’ve got HOMEWORK!!!” They were ecstatic. They couldn’t wait to sit down and get started on it. They set themselves up at a small desk in the back of the room, carefully got out their homework and went right to work. Before I finished up my work for the day, I took a minute to just stand and stare at them. I don’t know what exactly it was that got them so fired up about getting to do homework; I asked them later but they couldn’t articulate it. Whatever the reason, it was beautiful. I’d love to figure out a way to bottle up some of that excitement and give it to a few of my high school students.
We’ve got HOMEWORK!!!
